BCT at PS 179 is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. The Community After School Adventures (CASA) grant was designated to BCT at PS 179 through Council Member Brad Lander. Thank you to DCA and Brad Lander for allowing us to create musical theatre with the children at PS 179!
This past season,
We had 19 students in our Production A class (1st – 2nd grade), 18 students in our Production B class (3rd – 5th grade), and 11 students in our Technical Theatre class (3rd – 5th grade). The production classes performed original musical adaptations of two great stories: Ferdinand (Production A) and Tortoise vs. Hare (Production B). The Technical Theatre class designed and constructed props, costumes, and the backdrops for both shows, in addition to doing some amazing face painting for Tortoise vs. Hare!
Check out our program archive here: photos to the right, the show’s flyer featuring cast lists and drawings by two students, a Thank You to Councilman Bran Lander from Nadine F. Myers Guilloteau, the Guidance Counselor at PS 179 and BCT’s liaison, and clips of the show on our BCT @ PS 179 YouTube page!
